Apollo Global Management

Case Study

Creative Direction · Concept · Film Direction · Editorial Direction

The Client

Apollo Global Management is a global alternative asset manager. For its 2026 Hybrid Capital Summit, Apollo wanted an opening film that could introduce the event and set the tone for a day focused on hybrid capital.

The Challenge

Hybrid capital is a complex subject, and the film needed to engage an informed financial audience without trying to explain the topic in under a minute. It also needed to work as an event opener, building energy before transitioning naturally from the screen to Apollo Co-President John Zito on stage.

The Concept

The key insight came from the language itself. “Hybrid” appears everywhere in financial media, often with different meanings and contexts. Rather than trying to simplify the subject, the concept turned that proliferation into the story.

The film begins with repeated mentions of “hybrid” across financial media. Voices accumulate, the pace increases and information gradually becomes noise. Inside Apollo, employees search for clarity using AI and asking their own questions, until John Zito offers a much simpler solution:

“Maybe just ask a human.”

The Approach

The concept was built around escalation and release. Financial media, AI prompts, office conversations and employee reactions create an increasing sense of information overload before everything simplifies around the final line.

The live action sequences were planned as short, naturalistic fragments rather than extended scripted scenes. Different combinations of people, workstations, screens and office details created a broader sense of activity while giving the edit the flexibility needed to control the pace.

Sound was equally important. Overlapping voices, typing and ambient office noise build the crescendo, then fall away as the film moves from complexity to human clarity.

The Film

The finished film moves from the language of financial media into Apollo itself, using repetition, performance, sound and editorial rhythm to turn an abstract financial subject into a simple narrative.

John Zito's final line resolves the growing complexity before he heads towards the stage, creating a direct transition from the film into the live event.

Outcome

The film opened Apollo's 2026 Hybrid Capital Summit and was well received by the client and audience. Originally created specifically for the event, Apollo subsequently explored using the film more broadly across external and social channels.
